Weight-loss injection or tablet: how GLP-1 treatment works at deinrezept
Active ingredients from the GLP-1 group for weight management are prescription-only in Germany. At deinrezept, you request the treatment online: you complete a medical questionnaire, your answers undergo an individual medical review, and only if the treatment is medically appropriate is a private prescription with a qualified electronic signature issued. A mail-order pharmacy delivers discreetly, usually within 1–3 working days after payment to the pharmacy. German statutory health insurance does not cover medicines for weight regulation (Section 34(1) SGB V).

Frequently asked questions about GLP-1 treatment
- Do I need a prescription for GLP-1 medicines in Germany?
- Yes. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are prescription-only and are only dispensed by a pharmacy on a doctor's prescription.
- Is a prescription guaranteed after the questionnaire?
- No. Your answers undergo an individual medical review; follow-up questions or a refusal are possible.
- What costs should I expect?
- The fee for the medical review is listed on our page on costs and reimbursement (in German) and is also shown before payment. You pay for the medicine and shipping separately to the pharmacy; current prices are shown on each medication's page. There is no subscription.
- Do I need a video consultation?
- Not for the questionnaire route. A video consultation is available as a separate service for €39.00.
- What is the difference between semaglutide and tirzepatide?
- Semaglutide acts on the GLP-1 receptor, tirzepatide also on the GIP receptor (summary of product characteristics, section 5.1). For weight management, semaglutide is available as a weekly injection and a daily tablet, tirzepatide as a weekly injection. Which active ingredient is suitable is decided in the medical review.
- Where can I find information on dosage and side effects?
