What is OeKolp?
OeKolp contains estriol, a weak natural estrogen that is applied locally in the vaginal area. It is used to treat vaginal atrophy and dryness caused by estrogen deficiency after menopause.
OeKolp is available as a vaginal cream and as vaginal suppositories (ovules). Because estriol acts only locally and barely enters the bloodstream, it has significantly fewer systemic side effects than oral hormone replacement therapies.
Unlike systemic HRT products, purely local estriol therapy generally does not require an additional progestogen.

How to Take
Vaginal cream: 1. Screw the applicator onto the tube 2. Squeeze the tube until the applicator is filled 3. Gently insert the applicator into the vagina 4. Release the cream 5. Clean the applicator
Vaginal ovules: 1. Remove the ovule from the packaging 2. Insert it deep into the vagina 3. Use in the evening, lie flat

Contraindications
Do not use in case of:
- Breast cancer (known or suspected)
- Estrogen-dependent tumors
- Unexplained vaginal bleeding
- Active thromboembolism
Use with caution in case of:
- Endometriosis
- Uterine fibroids
- Risk of thrombosis
Pregnancy/breastfeeding: Contraindicated.
Note: With purely local low-dose estriol therapy, the risk of systemic side effects is very low.

Common:
- Local burning or itching (at the beginning)
- Mild discharge
Uncommon:
- Breast tenderness
- Light spotting
Very rare:
- Systemic estrogen effects (in case of overdose)
