What is Vitaros?

Vitaros is a cream for local application on the acorn of the penis that contains the active ingredient Alprostadil (Prostaglandin E1). It is an alternative to PDE-5 inhibitors (tablets) in erection disorders.

Alprostadil acts locally in vascular expansion and promotes blood flow into the penis. The cream is applied directly to the urethra opening and allows erection within 5-30 minutes.

Vitaros is particularly suitable for men who cannot take PDE-5 inhibitors or where they do not act sufficiently. It is delivered in the AccuDose single dose system.

Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action

Active ingredient: Alprostadil (Prostaglandin E1) 300 µg

Alprostadil works locally in vascular expansion:

Active mechanism: 1. Alprostadil is applied to the acorn Two. It enters the swelling body tissue via the urethra opening 3. Activates adenylate cyclase and increases cAMP 4. Smooth muscles relax Five. Arterial blood influx increases 6. Erection arises

Time:

  • Effective entry: 5-30 minutes
  • duration of action: 1-2 hours

**Subject to PDE-5-Hemmern:* * Alprostadil acts independently of sexual stimulation and directly on the swelling bodies. PDE-5 inhibitors require sexual excitement.

Who is it suitable for?

Vitaros is suitable for:

  • Erectile dysfunction in adult men
  • Men who don't wear PDE-5 inhibitors
  • Men with contraindications against PDE-5-inhibitors (e.g. nitrate intake)
  • If PDE-5 inhibitors do not work enough

Advantages:

  • Local application (less systemic side effects)
  • Works independently of sexual stimulation
