What is Skinores?

Skinoren is a prescription preparation with the active ingredient azelaic acid. It is approved for the treatment of acne vulgaris and Rosacea and is offered as gel (15%) or cream (20%).

Azelaic acid is a naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid produced by a yeast (Malassezia) on the skin. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and skin brightening properties.

A special advantage: Skinoring can also be used in pregnancy and is therefore one of the few options for becoming mothers with acne.

Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action

Active ingredient: Azelainsäure 15% (Gel) oder 20% (Creme)

Azelaic acid acts over several mechanisms:

Antibacterial effect:

  • Inhibits the growth of Propionibacterium acnes
  • No resistance development known
  • Reduces the bacterial settlement of the follicles

Normalization of keratinization:

  • Works on the disturbed maple in the hair follicles
  • Prevents the formation of fellow citizens
  • Has a slightly exfoliating effect

Inflammation inhibition:

  • Reduces the formation of free radicals
  • Inhibits inflammation mediators
  • Effective against redness at Rosacea

Tyrosinase inhibition:

  • Block the melanin production
  • Helps in hyperpigmentation (Pickelmale)
  • brightening effect on dark spots

Who is it suitable for?

Skinoren is suitable for:

  • Young people and adults with light to moderate acne
  • Patients with Rosacea (papulopustuous form)
  • People with pigment stains after acne
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding with acne

Especially suitable for:

  • Acne with hyperpigmentation (dark pimples)
  • Sensitive skin that does not harm other acne
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • combination of acne and pinkcea

More suitable for:

  • Heavy cystic acne
  • If rapid results are desired (alphatic acid acts more slowly)

Available Dosages

Skinoren Gel:

  • Azelaic acid: 150 mg/g (15%)
  • Package sizes: 5 g, 30 g, 50 g

Skinoren Cream:

  • azelaic acid: 200 mg/g (20%)
  • Package sizes: 30 g, 50 g

Recommendation:

  • Gel (15%): Better for fat skin, at Rosacea
  • cream (20%): dry skin, higher concentration for acne

How to Take

Application: 1. Clean skin thoroughly and dry Two. Apply a thin layer in the morning and/or evening 3. Apply to affected areas not only to individual pimples 4. Gently massage Five. Let it be put on other products if necessary

Activity:

  • Standard 2x daily (morning and evening)
  • Start with sensitive skin with 1x daily
  • Can also serve as a single morning treatment after reconciliation

Language: First improvements after 4 weeks, optimal effect after 2-4 months. Can be used in the long term.

  • Light burning or creeping at the beginning is normal
  • No photosensitization – can be used in the morning
  • Good for other products

Contraindications

**Skinors must not be used at:* *

  • hypersensitivity to azelaic acid or auxiliary substances
  • On open wounds or inflamed skin

Preview at:

  • Very sensitive skin (start with low concentration/frequency)
  • Asthma (theoretical risk of propylene glycol in gel)

pregnant and breastfeeding: Skinoren is one of the few acne drugs that is considered safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is not absorbed in relevant amounts via the skin.

Possible Side Effects

Acid (1-10%):

  • burning, tingling or tingling (especially at the beginning)
  • Itching
  • Skin redness
  • dry skin
  • dandruff

Occasionally:

  • Contact dermatitis
  • Skin whitening (desired effect in hyperpigmentation)
  • Acne inflammation at the beginning

Selten:

  • Allergic reactions
  • deterioration of asthma (for predisposed patients)

Typical initial reactions: Burning and creeping in the first applications is normal and leaves after a few days to weeks. It shows that the active substance works.

Interactions

No known interactions with:

  • Other topical acnetics
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Retinoids (combinable according to medical agreement)
  • Antibiotics (topic or systemic)

Combinable with:

  • Moisture creams
  • sunscreens
  • Other active ingredients

Recommendation for combination therapy: Apply azelaic acid in the morning, retinoid in the evening – this combination is well tolerated and effective.
