Sildenafil ratiopharm

Sildenafil ratiopharm is a generic of the active ingredient sildenafil from the German pharmaceutical company ratiopharm. It contains exactly the same active ingredient as the original Viagra, in the same quality.

Ratiopharm is a generic manufacturer and stands for tested quality.

Sildenafil inhibits the enzyme PDE-5, which improves erections during sexual stimulation. The mechanism of action is identical to that of Viagra.

You must not take Sildenafil ratiopharm in cases of:

• concomitant use of nitrates of any kind or nitric oxide donors (e.g. amyl nitrite)
• concomitant use of guanylate cyclase stimulators such as riociguat
• conditions in which you are advised against sexual activity (e.g. severe cardiovascular diseases such as unstable angina pectoris or severe heart failure)
• a recent stroke or heart attack
• low blood pressure (below 90/50 mmHg)
• severe hepatic impairment
• loss of vision in one eye due to non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION), regardless of whether the loss of vision was related to previous use of a PDE-5 inhibitor
• known hereditary degenerative retinal diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa
• hypersensitivity to sildenafil or any of the other ingredients

Headache, flushing, digestive complaints, visual disturbances.

Do not use at the same time:

• Nitrates of any kind and nitric oxide donors (e.g., amyl nitrite): Sildenafil enhances the blood-pressure-lowering effect of nitrates; concomitant administration is contraindicated.
• Riociguat: Concomitant use is contraindicated, as this can lead to a drop in blood pressure with symptoms.

Not recommended or only with caution:

• Nicorandil: Because of its nitrate component, a serious interaction with sildenafil is possible.
• Ritonavir: Concomitant administration is not advised. In any case, no more than 25 mg of sildenafil within 48 hours.
• Other CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, cimetidine): They can increase the level of sildenafil in the blood; a starting dose of 25 mg should be considered. Grapefruit juice can slightly increase the level.
• Alpha blockers (e.g., doxazosin): In a small number of susceptible people, a drop in blood pressure with symptoms can occur, most likely within 4 hours after intake. Alpha-blocker therapy should be stabilized beforehand; a starting dose of 25 mg should be considered.
• Sacubitril/valsartan: greater lowering of blood pressure; caution when starting treatment with sildenafil.
• Strong CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampicin): They can lower the level of sildenafil in the blood.
• Other PDE-5 inhibitors, other medicines containing sildenafil (e.g., for pulmonary arterial hypertension) or other treatments for erectile dysfunction: The combination is not recommended.
