What is Seebri Breezhale?

Seebri Breezhaler is a long-acting anticholinergic agent (LAMA) with the active ingredient glycopyrronium bromide. It is used for bronchial-enhancing continuous therapy at COPD and has to be inhaled only once a day.

The Breezhaler is a capsule inhaler: A capsule is placed, pierced and the powder is inhaled. Surrene of the capsule confirms the correct inhalation.

Glycopyrronium is also part of the triple inhaler Trimbow. Seebri is manufactured by Novartis.

Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action

Active ingredient: Glycopyrroniumbromid

Glycopyrronium blocks muscular receptors:

Active mechanism:

  • Inhibits M3-muscarin receptors in the bronchi
  • Blocks the bronchoconstrictor effect of acetylcholine
  • Extends the airways
  • Reduced mucus secretion

Time:

  • Fast action: within 5 minutes
  • duration of action: 24 hours
  • Maximum effect: 1-4 hours

Advantage: Faster action than tiotropium with comparable 24-hour action.

Who is it suitable for?

Seebri Breezhaler is suitable for:

  • COPD continuous therapy in adults
  • As a bronchodilatator monotherapy
  • In combination with LABA and/or ICS

Advantages:

  • Fast action
  • Once a day
  • Acoustic feedback (Kapsel surrt)

Not suitable:

  • For asthma as monotherapy
  • As an emergency medication
  • For children and young people

Available Dosages

Seebri Breezhaler:

  • 44 μg glycopyrronium per capsule
  • Inhale 1 capsule once a day

  • Don't swallow capsules!
  • Always inhale at the same time of the day

How to Take

Breezhaler (capsule inhaler): 1. Protective cap remove Two. Open mouthpiece 3. Insert capsule into the chamber 4. Close mouthpiece Five. Press side keys simultaneously (capsule is pierced) 6. Breathe deep (not in the inhaler) 7. Close the mouthpiece 8. Strong and deep breathing 9. Capsule must surre – if not, breathe again 10. Keep breath 11. Check capsule – inhale again for residual powder

Important:

  • Take capsules from the blister just before use
  • Do not swallow capsules

Contraindications

Do not apply at:

  • hypersensitivity to glycopyrronium or lactose

Preview at:

  • Engangle glaucoma
  • Prostate hyperplasia
  • Heavy kidney failure
  • Severe heart disease

pregnant: Limited data. Only with clear indication.

Style time: Not recommended.

Possible Side Effects

Acid (1-10%):

  • Mouth dryness
  • Nasopharyngitis
  • Sleep disorders
  • urinary tract infections

Occasionally:

  • Squeeze
  • Harnverhalt
  • Gastrointestinal complaints
  • Skin rash

Selten:

  • Engangle glaucoma
  • Paradox bronchospasmus

** Regular drinking helps against dry mouth.

  • Other anticholinergics (additive action)
  • QT-extending medications

Ingenious combination:

  • With LABA (e.g. Indacaterol)
  • With ICS as needed
