What is Estramon conti?

Estramon conti is a combined transdermal plaster that releases both estradiol (estrogen) and norethisterone acetate (stagnation) over the skin. It is used for the treatment of alternating-year complaints in postmenopausal women with intact uterus.

The great advantage of the patch: both hormones are absorbed via the skin and bypass the liver (no first pass effect). This leads to a lower risk of thrombosis than in oral preparations and a more uniform release of hormones.

The plaster is changed 2x per week and is designed as a continuous combination therapy (bleed-free).
