What is Estreva?
Estreva is an estradiol gel for use on the skin. Like Gynokadin, it delivers the body's own estrogen transdermally, thereby bypassing the first-pass effect in the liver.
The gel is applied using a metered-dose pump or a tube and is very easy to handle.

Estradiol is absorbed through the skin and replaces the body's own estrogen that is lacking after menopause.

How to Take
Apply once daily to the arms, shoulders, or abdomen. Do not apply to the breasts.
Contraindications
- Current or previous breast cancer, or suspected breast cancer
- Current estrogen-dependent malignant tumor, or a suspected one (e.g. cancer of the uterine lining)
- Undiagnosed genital bleeding
- Untreated thickening of the uterine lining (endometrial hyperplasia)
- Previous or current venous thromboembolism (especially deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism)
- Known tendency to form blood clots (thrombophilia, e.g. protein C, protein S or antithrombin deficiency)
- Current or recent arterial thromboembolic disease (e.g. angina pectoris, heart attack)
- Acute liver disease, or previous liver disease as long as liver enzyme values have not returned to normal
- Porphyria
- Hypersensitivity to estradiol or any of the other ingredients
Estreva is not indicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If pregnancy occurs during treatment, treatment must be stopped immediately.
Possible Side Effects
Breast tenderness, headache, skin irritation.
