Does Pulmicort help with acute breathing?

No, Pulmicort doesn't work right now. It is a preventive therapy, whose effect grows over days to weeks. In case of acute breathing, you need a fast-acting bronchodilatator such as salbutamol.

Is Pulmicort Kortison?

Yeah, Budesonid is an inhalative corticosteroid. Unlike cortisone tablets, however, it almost only acts locally in the airways and has no relevant systemic side effects at normal dosage.

Can I drop Pulmicort if I feel better?

Not without medical consultation! Asthma is a chronic disease. Freedom of appeal shows that the therapy works. The symptoms can return when degrading.

Does Pulmicort depend?

No, inhalative corticoids do not depend. For long-term therapy with high doses, however, the adrenal glands can produce less own cortisol – therefore do not drop abruptly.

If corticoid remains in the mouth, it can promote fungal growth. This is almost always prevented by consistent rinsing of the mouth after each inhalation.

What is pulmic place?

Pulmicort is an inhalative corticoid (ICS), which contains the active ingredient Budesonid. It is the most commonly prescribed inhalative corticoid worldwide and forms the basis of asthma long-term therapy.

In contrast to bronchodilatators, pulmicort does not relieve acute breathing, but has a preventive effect: it reduces chronic inflammation in the airways and thus prevents asthma attacks. The effect builds up over days to weeks.

Pulmicort is available as Turbuhaler, dosing aerosol and as a suspension for nebuliser.

Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action

Active ingredient: Budesonid

Budesonid has an anti-inflammatory effect in the airways:

Active mechanism: 1. Budesonid enters the cells of the respiratory tract Two. Binding with glucocorticoid receptors 3. Activates anti-inflammatory genes 4. Inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators

Effects:

Reduces swelling of the bronchial mucosa
Reduces mucus production
Lowers the hypersensitivity of the respiratory tract
Prevents remodeling processes

Time:

First effects after a few days
Full effect after 1-2 weeks of regular application
No immediate effect in acute breathing.

Who is it suitable for?

Pulmicort is suitable for:

All grades of asthma (as basic therapy)
Children from 6 years (Turbuhaler)
Toddlers
COPD (in combination with other medicines)

Application areas:

Light persistent asthma (allein)
Moderate asthma (often combined with LABA)
Step-by-step therapy adaptation

Not suitable for:

Acute asthma attacks (does not work immediately)
Alone therapy in severe asthma

Available Dosages

Pulmicort Turbuhaler:

100 μg per dose (for children)
400 μg per dose

Pulmicort dosing aerosol:

50 μg per stroke
200 μg per stroke

Dosing with asthma (adults):

Light: 200-400 μg daily
Medium: 400-800 μg daily
Heavy: 800-1600 μg daily

For children:

Lower doses depending on age and severity

How to Take

Turbuhaler: 1. Protective cap off Two. Keep upright, turn right and turn back (click) 3. Breathe deep (not in the inhaler) 4. enclose mouthpiece, deep breath Five. Keep breath 10 seconds 6. Rinse mouth, sprinkle

Dosieraerosol:

With coordination or better with Spacer
rinse mouth after inhalation

Important:

Apply regularly, even without complaints
Do not drop abruptly
Always rinse your mouth (mouth soor prevention)
Effect takes time – patience!

Contraindications

Do not apply at:

hypersensitivity to Budesonid

Preview at:

Active lung tuberculosis
Mushroom, virus or bacterial respiratory infections
Heavy liver failure (delayed degradation)

pregnant: Can and should be used with asthma. Uncontrolled asthma is more dangerous than inhalative Budesonid.

Style time: Go into breast milk in small amounts. Application possible.

irritation in the throat
Husten after inhalation

Occasionally:

Headaches
Taste disorders
nausea

Selten (at high doses/long-term therapy):

Systemic corticoid effects
Adrenal suppression
slowing growth in children
Skin changes (bloods)
osteoporosis
Cataract, glaucoma

Prevention:

rinse mouth after inhalation
Use lowest possible effective dose

Interactions

Reactions:

CYP3A4 inhibitors (Ketoconazole, Itraconazole, Ritonavir) – increased Budesonid levels
estrogens – can strengthen Budesonid effects

No relevant interaction with:

Bronchodilatators (sense combination)
Most other medicines

** Systemic corticoid action can occur while taking strong CYP3A4 inhibitors simultaneously.
