What is Clotrimazole?
Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal for the local treatment of fungal infections. It is used for vaginal yeast infections and is also suitable for other fungal skin conditions.
For the treatment of vaginal yeast infections, clotrimazole is available as vaginal tablets (ovules), vaginal cream, and as a combination with cream for the external area. Local application has the advantage that hardly any active ingredient enters the bloodstream.
Well-known brand names are Canesten® and numerous generics.
