What is Vagifem?
Vagifem are small vaginal tablets containing a very low dose of estradiol (10 μg). They are used for the local treatment of vaginal dryness and complaints due to oestrogen deficiency after the change years.
The tablets are equipped with a practical applicator that facilitates insertion. Due to the low dose, systemic absorption is minimal.
Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action
Active ingredient: Estradiol 10 µg
Estradiol acts locally in the vagina:
- Regenerates the mucous membrane
- Improves blood circulation
- Normalizes the pH
Who is it suitable for?
Women with:
- Shutter dryness
- Pain for sex
- Recurring urinary path infections
- Vaginal atrophie
Available Dosages
- 10 μg of estradiol per tablet
- Initial: 1x daily for 2 weeks
- Maintenance: 2x weekly
How to Take
Insert deep into the vagina with the disposable applicator, preferably in the evening.
Contraindications
Breast cancer, estrogen-dependent tumors, unexplained bleeding, thrombosis.
Possible Side Effects
Local irritations, outflow, rare breast tensions.
