What is gyncadine?

Gynokadin is an estradiol gel for transdermal (via the skin) hormone replacement therapy (HRT). It is applied daily to the skin and supplies the body's estrogen estradiol.

The transdermal application has advantages over tablets: The estrogen goes directly into the blood without first passing the liver. This reduces the risk of thrombosis and side effects.

In women with uterus, a gestagen must also be taken (e.g. as a tablet or combined preparation).
