What is merilon?

Mercilon is a low dosed combination pill of organon with only 0.02 mg of ethinylestradiol. It contains the stag Desogestrel and is the lower dosed sister of Marvelon.

The reduced amount of estrogen can reduce side effects such as nausea, chest tensions and headaches, while the prevention is maintained.

Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action

Active ingredient: Desogestrel 0,15 mg, Ethinylestradiol 0,02 mg

Mercilon acts like other combination pills:

  • Prevents ovulation
  • Thickens the cervical gland
  • Changes the cervical mucosa

Who is it suitable for?

Particularly suitable for:

  • Women who are sensitive to higher estrogen doses
  • Women with estrogen-related side effects in other pills
  • Slender women or first users

Available Dosages

  • 0.02 mg ethinylestradiol (low dose)
  • 0.15 mg desogestrel
  • 21 tablets

How to Take

  • One tablet daily, 21 days
  • 7 days break
  • As with all micropills: at the same time as possible

Contraindications

Do not apply to thrombosis risk, liver disease, hormone-dependent tumors, pregnancy.

Possible Side Effects

Frequently: headaches, chest tensions (usually milder than higher dosed pills) Rare: thromboses
