Enriqa

Enriqa contains the progestin dienogest, known for its pronounced antiandrogenic effect. The pill is a generic of Valette/Maxim and is often prescribed for acne.

Contraception plus an antiandrogenic effect.

Women with hormone-related acne who also want contraception.

2 mg dienogest + 0.03 mg ethinylestradiol, 21 tablets.

21 days of intake, 7-day break.

Enriqa must not be taken in cases of:

• current or previous venous thromboembolism (e.g. deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism), a known hereditary or acquired predisposition to it, or major surgery with prolonged immobilization
• current or previous arterial thromboembolism (e.g. heart attack), early stages such as angina pectoris, or a known hereditary or acquired predisposition to it (e.g. hyperhomocysteinemia, antiphospholipid antibodies)
• current or previous stroke or a previous early stage of stroke (e.g. transient ischemic attack [TIA])
• high risk of thrombosis due to several risk factors or one serious risk factor such as diabetes with blood vessel damage, severe high blood pressure or a severe lipid metabolism disorder
• diabetes that is no longer under control, high blood pressure that is difficult to control, or significantly raised blood pressure (consistently above 140/90 mm Hg)
• a history of migraine with focal neurological symptoms, as well as migraine-like headaches occurring for the first time or unusually severe headaches occurring more often
• hepatitis, jaundice or liver function disorders, as long as liver values have not returned to normal
• itching all over the body or cholestasis (impaired bile flow), especially during a previous pregnancy or estrogen treatment, as well as Dubin-Johnson syndrome, Rotor syndrome or disorders of bile secretion
• current or previous liver tumors, as well as severe upper abdominal pain, an enlarged liver or signs of bleeding in the abdomen
• a meningioma, including in the past
• a first or repeated occurrence of porphyria
• current or previous hormone-sensitive malignant tumors, e.g. of the breast or uterus
• severe lipid metabolism disorders
• current or previous inflammation of the pancreas, if it is associated with severely raised triglycerides
• acute sensory deficits (e.g. visual or hearing disturbances), movement disorders (especially paralysis) or an increase in epileptic seizures
• severe depression
• otosclerosis that worsened in previous pregnancies
• unexplained absence of menstrual periods, endometrial hyperplasia or unexplained genital bleeding
• hypersensitivity to the active substances or any of the other ingredients
• concomitant use of hepatitis C medicines containing ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir and dasabuvir, glecaprevir/pibrentasvir or sofosbuvir/velpatasvir/voxilaprevir

If any of these conditions occurs while you are taking it, Enriqa must be stopped immediately. Enriqa is not indicated during pregnancy. Women over 35 who smoke should use other methods of contraception.
